Hair Loss Medical Treatment in Coimbatore
Not every hair loss needs surgery. When caught early, hair fall and thinning can often be controlled with the right doctor-prescribed medicines, topical treatment and scalp care. At Dheeran Hair Transplant Clinic, Dr. Vivin Prasadh (MD Dermatology) prescribes a plan based on the actual cause of your hair loss, not a one-size-fits-all kit.

Medical Treatment Options for Hair Loss
Your plan is decided after a scalp examination. It may include one or more of the options below.
Prescription Tablets
Oral medicines prescribed by the doctor to slow down pattern hair loss and support regrowth, with dose and duration set for you.
Minoxidil & Topical Solutions
Doctor-advised topical solutions or serums applied on the thinning area to support hair growth and density.
Nutritional Support
If blood reports show low iron, vitamin D, B12 or other deficiencies, supplements are added to correct them.
Scalp & Dandruff Care
Medicated shampoos and lotions to control dandruff, itching and scalp inflammation that can worsen hair fall.
GFC Combination
For faster or stronger results, medicines can be combined with GFC (Growth Factor Concentrate) treatment.
Regular Follow-ups
Progress is reviewed at follow-up visits, and medicines are adjusted based on how your hair responds.

- 6–12 months: full response is assessed
- Results vary with age, cause and stage of hair loss
- Regular use as prescribed is the key to results
Medicines cannot bring back hair on completely bald areas. If you need a transplant, we will tell you honestly and plan it with you.
Please Don’t Self-Medicate
Hair loss tablets and solutions bought online or over the counter without a diagnosis may not suit your type of hair loss and can cause side effects. Get examined first, then start the right treatment under a dermatologist’s supervision.
Hair Loss Medical Treatment – Common Questions
Can hair loss be treated without surgery?
Yes, in many cases. Early and moderate hair loss can often be controlled with doctor-prescribed medicines, topical treatment and GFC. Medical treatment cannot regrow hair on completely bald areas, which is when a transplant is considered.
How long before I see results?
Reduced hair fall is usually noticed first. Visible improvement in density generally takes 3 to 6 months of regular use, and the full effect is assessed around 6 to 12 months.
Is minoxidil safe to use?
Minoxidil is a widely used topical treatment for pattern hair loss. Like any medicine it can have side effects in some people, so it should be used only as prescribed by your doctor, with the right strength and routine for you.
Can I buy hair fall tablets over the counter?
Please do not self-medicate. Some hair loss medicines need a proper diagnosis and medical supervision. Dr. Vivin prescribes only after examining your scalp and, if needed, checking blood reports.
Will hair fall again if I stop the medicines?
For pattern hair loss, the medicines control the condition rather than cure it. Stopping suddenly may bring hair fall back over time. Your doctor will guide you on how long to continue and how to taper.
Can medical treatment be combined with a hair transplant?
Yes. Medical treatment is often advised before and after a transplant to protect your existing hair and support better overall density.
